South Australian football has produced outstanding footballers from its beginnings and the 92 stories told here cover 100 years from the 1880s to the 1980s. Originally published in the Football Budget from 1980 to 1983 roughly two-thirds of them were based on interviews I conducted with such stars as Dan Moriarty, ‘Wacka’ Scott, ‘Bull’ Reval, Bob Hank, Ian McKay, John Halbert, Robert Day, Gary Window, ‘Fred’ Phillis and Malcolm Blight.
