This book is a groundbreaking revision of the history of Aborigines in Australian cricket during the Protection era. It reveals that while promising beginnings were made on pastoral stations, missions and by individuals they were never built upon. The work began as a PhD in history at Flinders University and was completed in 1998. Academic publisher Walla Walla Press produced the book the following year. It received rich praise in reviews in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
