The Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and New South Wales at Adelaide Oval in December 1927 was a great cricket match. Highly significant as Don Bradman’s debut in first-class cricket, and for his battle for ascendancy with champion leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett, it involved several matches within the match and resulted in a thrilling one-wicket win to the home side after the visitors had scored 519 runs in their first innings.
